California’s Golden Opportunity for Energy Efficiency


Since the 1970’s, California has taken the lead both on aggressive energy reduction and renewable energy generation goals as well as investment in early generation technologies.  The results of these policies have been outstanding with the average California residential customer paying $240 per year less for electricity than the average American household as well as reducing demand by 15,500 MW – the equvelant of 30 power plants.  In the linked report read the findings by the Natural Resources Defense Council as they examine the effects of these policies over the past 40 years.
